Summary (Major Purpose of the Role):
To lead the Welding team ensuring the factory produces a high-quality product through the department that will meet the customer’s expectations. To ensure that the products are welded in an efficient and timely manner to meet the production deadlines. To ensure that health and safety remains the number one priority, and all safety procedures are followed and endeared to by themselves and their team.
Main Activities/Responsibilities:
Liaise with the Shift Production Manager to ensure the Welding Production plan is met and products are welded in an efficient manner, to ensure that both efficiency and quality reach the required levels.
- Communication with the Shift Production Manager daily if any instruction is required
- Responsible for the day to day running of the Welding Department on the 6-2 shift or 2-10 shifts as and when required
- Being pro-active to ensure workstations are set up with the required product and tools
- Be the first point of contact for all day to day operational and people related matters in the department
- To ensure that all the department receive an Annual Appraisal Review (APR), a half yearly review and a quarterly 1:1 as and when required
- To ensure that all the products welded adhere to the highest quality standards
- To ensure that the factory achieves and performs at agreed efficiency levels
- To ensure HR procedures are followed
- To ensure new recruits are fully trained
- To multi-skill the welding team making sure everyone is flexible enough to be able to complete all job tasks from start to finish thus meeting the needs of the business.
- To liaise closely with other departments to ensure we have a good working relationship to enable us all to work as one team and not as individuals

Education and Experience:
- Experience of a Welding/manufacturing environment on the production floor
- Good understanding of quality systems
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S
- Understanding of H&S in a manufacturing environment
- Experienced in working to required production deadlines
- Being able to think on your feet and see any potential issues before they arise
- Experienced in working and training others to the required level
